First mentions of Kammer
1249: Gotfrido de Chamer, Hæidfolcho de Chamer (Salzburg)
1260: apud chamer
1380: "in Kamer"
1383: Chamer in the Atergow
Note: In the Legend of the Flavia, a reign at the lake is reported at the outgoing Roman period.
Derivation
From Kamer(e) = Kammer, in the sense of "economic management belonging to a dominance".
Kammerl
Previously the area south of the Maierhof was called Kammerl .
Mention and derivation
1371: datz dem Cæmerlein, 16th century: Camerlein, Chamerl, derived from "Kammer".
On 1 January 1975, the village of Kammerl was "integrated" into the village of Kammer by means of a municipal council decision.
Hans Dickinger writes 1986:
"Kammer" is something different than Kammerl. The people of Kammer belonged to the Kammer Castle. In Kammerl, on the other hand, there lived fishermen, sailors, weavers, and, above all, woodcutters. Kammerl is a large village. The houses are located away from the lake. In Kammer, everything was concentrated around the castle.[1].
